IT Operations & Vendor Manager

A growing Northeast organisation is seeking an experienced IT Operations & Vendor Manager to bring structure, accountability, and operational clarity to its technology estate.

Reporting directly to the CTO, this is a newly created role offering genuine ownership across IT operations and third-party supplier management within a scaling environment.

The Role
You will take responsibility for the day-to-day governance of IT operations, ensuring vendors perform, systems remain stable, and operational improvement initiatives are delivered effectively.
Key focus areas include:

  • Managing key IT suppliers across infrastructure, cloud, telecoms, and end-user support
  • Driving SLA adherence and structured supplier review processes
  • Leading small to medium-sized operational IT projects (system upgrades, migrations, process improvements)
  • Improving documentation, reporting, and operational visibility
  • Supporting compliance and security initiatives in partnership with the CTO
  • Acting as the operational bridge between technology providers and internal stakeholders
This role is hands-on and delivery-focused, ideal for someone who enjoys building structure and improving how IT services are managed in a growing organisation.

About You
You will likely have:
  • 5+ years’ experience in IT operations, infrastructure, or service delivery within an SME environment
  • Experience managing third-party IT vendors and holding them accountable to service standards
  • Delivered operational IT projects end-to-end
  • Broad working knowledge of infrastructure, cloud environments, networks, and end-user computing
  • Strong stakeholder communication skills
  • A pragmatic, organised and ownership-driven mindset
  • Certifications such as ITIL or PRINCE2 are beneficial but not essential.

What You’ll Gain
  • Direct reporting line to CTO
  • High visibility across the organisation
  • Real operational ownership
  • Influence in a growing, evolving business
  • 22 days holiday + Christmas shutdown
  • 5% pension
  • Flexible working arrangements

This opportunity suits a commercially aware IT Operations professional who wants greater ownership and impact, without moving into enterprise-level bureaucracy.
