Data Engineer (Microsoft Fabric) – 5 Month Contract
Location: Hybrid / Remote
Contract Type: Contract / Outside IR35
Duration: Initial 5 Months

Overview
We are seeking an experienced Data Engineer with strong Microsoft Fabric expertise to support a major data transformation and reporting migration programme. The successful candidate will play a key role in designing and implementing a modern data architecture, integrating multiple business-critical systems, and supporting the migration of legacy reporting into Microsoft Fabric.

This is an initial 5-month engagement working alongside interim leadership and technical stakeholders to establish scalable foundations for future analytics and reporting capabilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement scalable data solutions within Microsoft Fabric.
  • Support the migration of existing reporting platforms and data assets into Fabric.
  • Build and manage ingestion pipelines to move source data into the Bronze layer.
  • Transform, cleanse, and normalise data into the Silver layer to support reporting and analytics use cases.
  • Integrate multiple source systems including:
  • Spider database platforms
  • Salesforce
  • CX1 telephony systems
  • Additional operational and third-party platforms
  • Work closely with interim architecture leadership to implement the target data architecture.
  • Support the replacement and redevelopment of existing reports and dashboards within the Fabric ecosystem.
  • Ensure best practices across data modelling, governance, performance, and scalability.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand reporting requirements and deliver fit-for-purpose data solutions.
Required Skills & Experience
  • Proven experience as a Data Engineer working with Microsoft Fabric.
  • Strong understanding of Medallion Architecture (Bronze, Silver, Gold layers).
  • Experience building ETL / ELT pipelines and integrating multiple enterprise systems.
  • Strong SQL and data transformation skills.
  • Experience working with cloud-based data platforms and modern analytics tooling.
  • Previous experience migrating legacy reporting environments into modern data platforms.
  • Ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced transformation environment.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.

Desirable Experience
  • Experience with telephony or contact centre data platforms.
  • Exposure to interim or greenfield data transformation projects.
  • Knowledge of Power BI and reporting migration best practices.
  • Experience working in IR35 contract environments.
